Staying motivated may be hard if you find you're not receiving the same salary as another professional in your field. Dice's Annual Tech Salary Survey Results show that 32% of respondents with tech jobs were simply "somewhat satisfied" when it came to their annual salary of approximately $86,000.

Here are the details of the respondents' answers regarding their tech career salaries:

Are you satisfied with your tech salary?

In conclusion, technical employees seemed to be disappointed with their employer's ability to compensate them or provide motivational incentives:

  • Close to half (47%) of the survey respondents say their employer was doing little to nothing to keep them motivated at their tech job
  • Just 19% were being motivated by being offered more challenging/interesting assignments

Consequently, companies that fail to motivate their employees with either interesting work or fair increase of wages will have trouble retaining their top team players.
